Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that President Bola Tinubu personally instructed him to visit former President Muhammadu Buhari on his sickbed in London before his passing.

Speaking on Wednesday at Buhari’s residence in Daura, Katsina State, after a prayer session held in his memory, Shettima described Buhari’s death as a profound loss — not just to his family or state, but to the entire nation and Africa at large.

“The president was deeply pained,” Shettima said. “He sent me to London earlier to visit the late president. I spent two days with him. When he passed, the president directed me and the Chief of Staff to accompany his family and bring his body home.”

According to the vice president, the decision on the burial and prayers was made after consultations with President Tinubu, Buhari’s family, and the Katsina State government. A major prayer session was scheduled for Thursday at noon.
