ADC Oyo Governorship Candidate Receives APM Defectors

The Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, has received hundreds of members who defected from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to the ADC.

The new members were drawn from Ogo Oluwa and Surulere Local Government Areas and joined the party during Adegoke’s thank-you visit to the Ogbomoso area of Oyo State.

The defectors said their decision to leave the APM followed growing dissatisfaction with the party and their desire to support a political platform they considered more promising ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Representatives of the group, Apostle Taiwo Olaleru and Alhaji Bashiru Ganiyu, said they were convinced that the ADC and its governorship candidate offered a platform capable of delivering better governance to the people.

Ganiyu added that the group was optimistic about the ADC’s ability to improve the welfare of residents and provide greater development opportunities across their communities.

He also said the defectors were aware of Adegoke’s philanthropic activities and had decided to support his ambition to become governor of Oyo State.

Receiving the new members, Adegoke assured them that they would have equal opportunities within the ADC. He urged them to remain committed to the party and contribute to its growth ahead of the 2027 election.

Earlier on Friday, during a visit to Iseyin, the ADC candidate promised to establish a specialist hospital in the Oke-Ogun area if elected governor.

Adegoke said the proposed medical facility would provide specialised healthcare services to residents of the zone and also contribute to the development of infrastructure and the local economy.

He also promised to improve the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin Campus, with particular attention to its College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources.

According to him, the institution would receive greater attention under his administration, with efforts directed towards improving its capacity and supporting academic development if he wins the 2027 governorship election.
