Take It Back Movement Rejects Sowore Bail, Calls It Oppressive

The Take-It-Back Movement has criticised the bail conditions granted to Omoyele Sowore by the Federal High Court, describing them as harsh and politically driven.

The group said the requirements go beyond ensuring his appearance in court and instead place unnecessary obstacles before him.

The movement objected to the court’s order directing Sowore to submit his international passport and provide two ₦200 million sureties, including a traditional ruler from his community and a property owner in Abuja.

It argued that the conditions are excessive and unfair.

According to the group, Sowore has consistently appeared in court whenever required and has never shown any intention of fleeing.

It said the earlier revocation of his bail, his detention and the latest conditions have raised fresh concerns about the handling of the case.

The organisation called for an immediate review of the bail terms in line with constitutional rights and insisted it would continue campaigning for democracy, justice and accountability.

It also maintained that efforts to silence dissent would not stop Nigerians from demanding better governance.
