APC Accused Of Open Vote Buying In Ekiti Poll

Open vote buying was reported at Ward 5, Polling Unit 3 in Ado-West, Ado-Ekiti during the Ekiti governorship election on Saturday, where voters were allegedly given tags linked to cash payments after voting.

The activity was said to be carried out in full view of those present at the scene.

Agents of the All Progressives Congress were observed handing out tags to voters, who were instructed to return them after casting their ballots in exchange for money.

The process reportedly continued without concealment despite the presence of party agents and security operatives at the location.

Sunday Asefon, a Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu, was also seen at the polling unit.

He arrived in a vehicle, briefly spoke with an APC agent near the bridge where the voting point was situated, and then left the area shortly after.

While police officers were on ground to maintain order, they were seen focusing mainly on queue management as the alleged vote buying continued.

There was no visible presence of EFCC officials at the unit, even as opposition agents raised concerns over the development.
