Oyo Police Arrest Kidnap Suspect, Rescues Victim

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old suspect linked to the abduction of a 20-year-old farmer in Igboti village, Oorelope Local Government Area, following a swift response by security operatives.

The victim was kidnapped during a night raid carried out by armed men.

The incident was reported at the Okaka Police Division after about eight armed men invaded the village in the early hours of June 19, 2026.

The attackers were said to have forced their way into the community, abducted the farmer and also taken cash and foreign currency during the operation.
Police said a coordinated response involving officers, local vigilantes and Amotekun operatives led to a search of nearby bushes, which resulted in the arrest of one suspect identified as part of the gang.
Investigations also confirmed his involvement in the crime after questioning.
The command confirmed that efforts are ongoing to rescue the victim and track down other members of the gang.
Residents have been urged to provide useful information as security operations continue across the area.
