UK To Observe Ekiti And Osun Elections
The United Kingdom has announced plans to deploy election observers for the upcoming governorship polls in Ekiti and Osun states.
The move is aimed at monitoring the electoral process as Nigeria prepares for the off-cycle elections.
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, made the disclosure during a visit to the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja.
He met with APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as part of discussions on democratic cooperation.
Montgomery said the UK remains interested in supporting credible elections in Nigeria through observation and engagement with key political stakeholders.
He noted that peaceful and transparent elections are important for strengthening public trust in the process.
The APC leadership welcomed the visit, with both sides expressing commitment to democratic values ahead of the governorship contests in the two states.
