He said kidnappings, killings and attacks linked to criminal herders have continued to create fear in many communities. The statement was released on Wednesday through an open letter.

The human rights lawyer questioned whether northern communities would accept such violence if armed groups from other ethnic backgrounds invaded their region.

He said residents across the South are becoming increasingly worried over the continued attacks and the silence from influential Fulani figures.

Ejimakor also criticised Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi over comments linked to bandits and violent groups.

He urged Fulani leaders to openly condemn criminal activities and separate the wider Fulani community from those involved in kidnappings, killings and destruction of farmlands across the country.

He warned that continued silence could deepen ethnic tension and increase distrust among Nigerians.

The lawyer called for urgent action as insecurity, kidnappings and attacks on rural communities continue to affect many parts of Southern Nigeria.
