Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has inaugurated a 600-member campaign council of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Malami, who inaugurated the council in Kebbi on Wednesday, urged members to unite and build a strong grassroots political structure capable of mobilising voters across the state’s 21 local government areas.

He said the inauguration was more than the appointment of campaign officials, describing it as the start of a coordinated effort to take the ADC’s programmes and message to communities, wards and polling units across the state.
According to him, the composition of the council was designed to reflect the diversity of Kebbi, with members drawn from different communities, local government areas and senatorial districts.
Malami said the campaign should not be centred on a single candidate or position, but should involve all ADC candidates contesting for elective offices.
He urged members of the council to work together to support candidates contesting the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.
The former minister also acknowledged the party’s senatorial candidates, including Aminu Bande for Kebbi Central, Garba Maidoki for Kebbi South and Chiroman Kabi, Alhaji Mera, for Kebbi North.
He called on campaign council members to avoid tribalism, sectional interests and personal disagreements, warning that internal divisions could undermine the party’s chances in the elections.
Malami also appealed to members to pursue reconciliation whenever disputes arise within the party.
He urged those with grievances to engage in dialogue and rebuild trust, saying the diversity of the party should be used to strengthen its campaign rather than create divisions.
The former minister described the campaign structure as one ADC family working towards a common political objective.

He called on candidates and supporters to place the collective interest of the party above individual ambitions.
Malami further warned party members against inflammatory statements, hate speech, ethnic attacks and abusive comments directed at political opponents.
He said political disagreements should not destroy relationships among people and communities because political contests would eventually end while residents would continue to live together.
The former Attorney-General reminded the campaign council members that they would still interact with their political opponents after the elections and urged them to conduct their activities with restraint and respect.
He described membership of the campaign council as a responsibility rather than a reward, charging the more than 600 members to mobilise supporters, engage communities and communicate the party’s programmes effectively.
Malami also asked the members to return to their various communities as representatives of the party and work towards resolving disagreements among supporters.
He said discipline, cooperation and effective grassroots mobilisation would be essential to the success of the ADC in Kebbi State.
The inauguration comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections and strengthen their structures across the country.
Kebbi is expected to witness increased political activity as parties prepare for contests at the governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly levels.
Malami urged the newly inaugurated council members to remain focused on the interests of Kebbi residents and work collectively to build the party’s presence across the state.
He said the ADC’s campaign would be guided by unity, cooperation, reconciliation and service to the people as the party moves towards the 2027 elections.
