A total of 473 pilgrims from Kogi State departed from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport as part of the initial batch heading for the holy exercise.

The pilgrims are among thousands expected to travel in phases.

Shettima urged the travellers to conduct themselves responsibly and uphold discipline throughout the pilgrimage.

He stressed the importance of good behaviour as they represent Nigeria during the spiritual journey.

The flag-off signals the start of nationwide hajj movements, with more flights expected in the coming days.

Authorities are coordinating logistics to ensure a smooth and organised exercise for all intending pilgrims.
