Saraki Pushes For PDP Unity In 2027
In Nigeria, Bukola Saraki has urged leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party to unite and begin preparations for the 2027 elections.
His call followed the recent Supreme Court ruling on the party’s leadership dispute. He said the verdict should push members to rebuild and move forward together.
Saraki noted that the outcome supports his earlier stance that the Ibadan convention should not have been held.
He said an interim arrangement would have helped avoid the legal battles that divided the party.
According to him, the focus now should be on healing divisions rather than revisiting past disagreements.
He said the ruling has settled the issue of leadership, leaving one united PDP across all states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Saraki urged members to come together and strengthen the party as a credible platform for elections. He added that internal peace is key to winning support ahead of 2027.
The former Senate President also encouraged those involved in court cases to return and help rebuild the party.
He said the PDP must now focus on discipline, unity and preparation for the polls. The goal, he added, is to position the party strongly for victory in the next general election.
