ADC Rejects Katsina Parallel Congress

The African Democratic Congress in Katsina has dismissed a parallel congress held in the state, describing it as unlawful.

The position was made known by the congress committee chairman, Atiku Abubakar-Saleh, while addressing journalists on Tuesday. He said the exercise did not follow the party’s approved process.

The committee explained that it was properly set up by the party’s National Working Committee to organise official congresses.

It noted that preparations are ongoing, with ward and local government congresses fixed for Wednesday and the state congress scheduled for Thursday.

The timetable, it said, aligns with recent legal backing.
According to the party, only the recognised congress and screening committees are authorised to handle the process.

It warned that any gathering outside these structures is invalid and has no effect. The leadership described such actions as attempts to disrupt unity within the party.

Members and stakeholders were urged to ignore unauthorised activities and support the official exercise.

The committee also called on security agencies to stay alert and prevent any breakdown of order during the congress process.
