The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced another electricity outage affecting parts of Abuja following a fault at the Apo Transmission Substation.

TCN disclosed this in a notice on Wednesday, explaining that a 100MVA TR4 transformer at the 132/33kV Apo Substation tripped in the early hours of the day.

The company said oil spillage on the red-phase high-voltage bushing of the transformer caused the fault, resulting in the shutdown of four 33kV feeders identified as H31, H33, H35 and H37.
TCN said its maintenance team had commenced investigations to determine the exact cause of the transformer failure and carry out the necessary repairs.

The company said the exercise was aimed at restoring the affected transformer and returning electricity supply to the impacted areas as soon as possible.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company also confirmed the outage, stating that several areas of the Federal Capital Territory were affected.
Areas experiencing the blackout include Apo Legislative Quarters, Lokogoma, Apo Resettlement and other parts of Abuja.
The latest disruption comes barely a day after TCN announced a separate power outage in parts of the capital to allow for scheduled maintenance work.
The repeated outages have left several communities in Abuja without regular electricity supply as authorities work to address faults affecting the transmission network.
