Bola Ahmed Tinubu has told Nigerians to hold past leaders responsible for the country’s electricity problems.

He said earlier decisions on privatising the power sector created challenges still affecting supply today. The remarks come amid ongoing concerns over unstable electricity across the country.

The president pointed to what he described as flawed reforms that weakened the system instead of improving it.

According to him, the structure put in place over the years has made it difficult to deliver steady power to homes and businesses.

He said the impact of those choices is still being felt.
Tinubu stressed that his administration is working to fix the sector and improve performance.

He noted that efforts are ongoing to strengthen operations and address long-standing issues within the power industry. The goal, he said, is to build a more reliable system.

The statement adds to growing debate over Nigeria’s electricity sector, with many calling for deeper reforms.

Attention remains on how current policies will tackle the challenges inherited from past administrations.
