Wike Got PDP Approval – Yilwatda
The All Progressives Congress chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has said the Peoples Democratic Party approved Nyesom Wike to serve in the government of Bola Tinubu.
He made the remark during a media chat, dismissing claims that Wike was taken from the opposition.
He explained that Wike formally sought permission from the PDP leadership before accepting the role, and the party gave its consent.
According to him, such cross-party appointments are not new and have happened in past administrations based on ability to deliver.
Yilwatda also rejected the idea that the ruling party is weakening opposition groups, saying political alignment is a personal choice.
He added that supporting a president does not require formal membership of the ruling party.
He said the APC is working to improve its internal system through clear primary guidelines, cooperation with Independent National Electoral Commission, and a digital membership register.
He added that the party is also investing in training and building capacity for governance.
