The move comes as the state continues to battle bandit attacks.

The development took place as part of a political realignment, with the governor joining the APC amid efforts to strengthen ties with the federal authorities.

The event also drew key figures, including Bello Matawalle, who publicly backed Lawal’s future ambition. The gathering signalled a shift in the state’s political landscape ahead of the next elections.

Shettima said more security personnel and equipment would be deployed to confront armed groups troubling communities across the state.

He assured that the federal government would support the governor’s plans to improve safety and development.

Zamfara remains one of the hardest-hit states by banditry, with repeated attacks, kidnappings, and displacement driving the push for stronger security action.
