Governors in the Peoples Democratic Party have rejected a consensus plan backed by Nyesom Wike for selecting national leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.

The crisis grew after governors aligned with a rival camp insisted the process was flawed and should be reviewed through legal means.

Their group, linked to Tanimu Turaki, argued that the convention producing earlier leaders had already been voided by the court.

They maintained that any fresh move must follow due process.
Tension has lingered for months, with both factions forming parallel structures and holding separate meetings.

While one side pushed ahead with plans for a national convention, the other rejected participation and warned that the exercise could worsen the crisis.
