The ruling followed a legal battle filed by the affected students, who approached the court over actions taken against them by the university authorities.
After reviewing the case, the court ruled that the students’ rights were violated and ordered the institution to compensate them.
The judge held that the decision taken by the university against the students was unjustified and directed the school to pay the damages as compensation.
The court also affirmed that the students deserved protection under the law.
The judgement is expected to place pressure on the university administration to comply with the court order while also drawing attention to how disciplinary actions in tertiary institutions are handled.
