According to the statement, the decision was taken as a precautionary measure in response to information about planned demonstrations that could affect movement and security around the embassy area.

The Mission advised American citizens in Nigeria to stay alert, monitor local news and avoid areas where large gatherings or protests may occur.

It also urged US nationals to keep their contact information updated with the embassy and follow guidance from local authorities.

The embassy is expected to resume normal operations once the security situation in Abuja stabilises.
