He spoke on Sunday during a live town hall programme on the Electoral Act 2026 and its impact on the next general polls.

He explained that while INEC has the capacity to transmit results electronically, real-time transmission remains a challenge in some areas due to network and logistical limits.

He cited a recent FCT area council election where difficult terrain and poor connectivity delayed results from one ward until the next day.

Amupitan said elections depend heavily on planning and field operations, warning that any weakness in logistics can affect public trust.

He added that although some human and operational lapses were recorded in recent polls, steps are being taken to address them before 2027.

The INEC chairman also announced a review of party regulations to align with the Electoral Act 2026.

He said the commission aims to tighten oversight of political parties, reduce pre-election disputes, and strengthen internal democracy ahead of the next general elections.
