Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan says former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello’s decision to run for the Kogi Central senatorial seat in 2027 does not unsettle her or threaten her position.

The lawmaker spoke through her media aide after Bello announced his intention to contest the seat currently held by her. She said she is calm about the development and views it as part of the democratic process.

Her reaction followed Bello’s public declaration during a visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he told traditional rulers and community leaders that he would seek the Senate seat in the next general election.
The declaration took place in the presence of Governor Ahmed Ododo, who was said to have urged Bello to answer calls from party leaders and people of the district to represent them at the National Assembly.
