Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris says no ransom was paid for the release of the 24 schoolgirls abducted from Comprehensive Secondary School.
The schoolgirls, who were taken by bandits in Maga, were freed through what authorities described as a non-kinetic approach led by the Federal Government.
Speaking on their return, Governor Idris said both the state and federal governments maintained a no-ransom policy. He explained that the rescue was carried out entirely by security agencies.
He added that the schoolgirls will be reunited with their families on Wednesday. The governor also thanked President Bola Tinubu for directing security agencies to ensure the safe recovery of the children.
