Lamido urges Tinubu to meet past leaders over Trump threat

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently convene a meeting with all past Nigerian leaders to address the recent threat by U.S. President Donald Trump against Nigeria.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Lamido described Trump’s warning as “ominous,” saying the situation could have grave consequences if not managed carefully.

The former governor urged Tinubu to put aside pride and engage past Presidents and Heads of State in a closed-door meeting to find a diplomatic solution to the matter.

He said this was a time for unity, urging Nigerians of all backgrounds to rally behind the nation’s sovereignty.

Lamido also appealed to former Nigerian leaders to work with the Tinubu administration and use quiet diplomacy to engage Washington and defuse tensions.

According to him, Nigeria cannot afford to waste time in responding to the issue, stressing that swift and united action is needed to prevent a deeper crisis.
