Supporters of Peter Obi have dismissed Atiku Abubakar’s stance on the 2027 presidential race, insisting the former Labour Party candidate will not engage in Nigeria’s money-driven primaries.

Reacting to Atiku’s comments during a BBC Hausa interview, the Obidient Movement described his posture as “mind games,” stressing that Obi’s political ideology rejects dollarised delegate inducement.

Dr. Yunusa Tanko, Obi’s former campaign spokesman and national coordinator of the movement, told reporters that Obi represents a new political culture. He said delegates in Nigeria’s major parties are usually bought with dollars, a practice Obi would never be part of.

Atiku had said he was prepared to contest the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primaries but would support any younger aspirant who defeats him. While Atiku has formally aligned with the coalition, Obi and El-Rufai have remained in their parties, with Obi insisting he will not be pressured into leaving Labour Party until the time is right.
