The All Progressives Congress in Lagos State has rejected the African Democratic Congress’ “new deal” agenda, calling it recycled rhetoric without substance, structure, or credibility.

In a statement on Wednesday, Lagos APC spokesperson Mogaji Seye Oladejo said Nigerians are now more politically aware and will not entrust the country’s future to a party with no proven track record, clear ideology, or cohesive leadership. His comments followed a political event in Kosofe, Lagos, where former Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola criticised the APC and other major parties for failing the nation.

Oladejo described Aregbesola’s remarks as disappointing and politically opportunistic, accusing him of turning against the same party that gave him a platform for over two decades. He argued that if the APC has failed, Aregbesola must share responsibility for his own role in governance as a former Lagos commissioner, Osun State governor, and federal minister.

He maintained that the ADC’s offer amounts to nothing more than campaign fanfare, insisting that Lagos APC remains a model of progressive governance. He cited achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and technology as evidence of the party’s performance.
Oladejo also criticised what he called political grandstanding and sudden defections, warning that politics without loyalty and gratitude leads to irrelevance. He said the Lagos APC remains united, focused, and committed to delivering the dividends of democracy, while rejecting what he described as falsehoods and attempts to mislead the public.
With the 2027 general elections approaching, Oladejo urged Nigerians to be wary of politicians who only switch parties when their personal ambitions are no longer served, and who now claim to have solutions to problems they helped create.
