Osun Senators Made Wrong Move By Joining APC Says Adeleke Aide

Two senators from Osun State who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress made a wrong political move, according to a top aide to Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The senators, Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East and Olubiyi Fadeyi of Osun Central, defected on Wednesday amid growing rumours that Governor Adeleke might also be preparing to switch parties. Their defection stirred debate across the state’s political circles.

Reacting to the development, Hezekiah Bamiji, a Senior Special Assistant to the governor, said the lawmakers acted out of assumption, thinking Adeleke was about to join the APC. He believes they acted too quickly without proper consultation.

Speaking during an interview on national television, Bamiji suggested the senators were influenced by speculation and the pressure of staying politically relevant in Abuja. He argued that their decision was not well thought out and seemed more like a rush to gain favour with the ruling party at the federal level.

He said the lawmakers should have consulted with the governor, who remains the PDP’s leader in Osun State, before making any moves. According to him, such a decision affects not just the senators but the people they represent.

Bamiji added that even if Adeleke had intentions to change parties, proper communication would have been expected within the party. But as it stands, he noted that the governor remains fully committed to the PDP.

He also made it clear that Governor Adeleke has no need to join the APC to perform his duties or bring development to Osun State. The aide pointed out that governance is ongoing and projects are being delivered under Adeleke’s current party platform.

The defections have opened a fresh chapter in Osun’s political scene, but Governor Adeleke’s camp insists that his loyalty to the PDP is still intact.
