Datti made the comment during an interview on Mic On Podcast, where he discussed the political developments surrounding his former principal and the upcoming election.

He said Obi had moved away from what he described as his political comfort zone after leaving the Labour Party and changing political platforms ahead of the 2027 election.

Datti recalled that he had spoken privately with Obi before the former Anambra State governor moved to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He said he had advised Obi that the political platform was not suitable for him.

According to Datti, subsequent developments proved his concerns correct, as Obi eventually left the ADC after spending about four months with the coalition.

He said he does not support politicians who make contradictory political decisions, adding that he did not want to discuss Atiku Abubakar’s political choices because that was not the focus of his comments.

Datti and Obi were the Labour Party’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates respectively in the 2023 general election. Obi is now preparing to contest the 2027 presidential election under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), according to the report.

The former LP running mate did not disclose which candidate he believes could provide a better alternative, maintaining instead that none of those currently contesting the presidency would be able to improve Nigeria.
