The case centres on airtime lending practices involving telecom service providers.

The court refused to set aside the earlier injunction that protects members of the Wireless Application Service Providers Association of Nigeria from the disputed provisions of the DEON Regulations 2025.

This means the restrictions remain in place for now.

The FCCPC had asked the court to allow enforcement of the rules, which cover digital and non-traditional consumer lending.

However, the judge maintained the status quo pending further hearing of the case.

The ruling keeps the legal battle ongoing, with stakeholders watching closely as it could shape how airtime lending and digital credit services are regulated in Nigeria.
