Speaking in Benin, Roland Owie said the chairmanship was zoned to Edo South and further to Oredo Local Government Area.

He explained that a mini primary was held, where Dr Mike Ehima defeated Tony Alile by a wide margin.

Owie, however, alleged that John Odigie Oyegun was backing a different candidate at the national level, a move he said undermines due process.

He called on the party’s leadership to step in and resolve the matter.

Oyegun denied involvement in the process, insisting only the designated congress officials could speak on the outcome.

The dispute has now deepened internal tensions, with multiple claims to leadership emerging across the state chapter.
