Peter Obi And ADC Leaders Shot At In Benin

Peter Obi and leaders of the African Democratic Congress were reportedly caught in a shooting scare in Benin City, Edo State, on Tuesday during events marking Olumide Akpata’s formal move into the party.

Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, said the group came under gunfire shortly after leaving the ADC Secretariat.

He alleged that armed men followed them to the residence of John Odigie-Oyegun, where shots were fired at the gate and vehicles were damaged.

Tanko described the incident as a “survived assa+sination attempt,” adding that Obi and party leaders were “under siege and attack” at the time.

He warned that the situation raises concerns for Nigeria’s democracy.

Witnesses said the gunshots triggered panic, with supporters scrambling for safety.

The incident comes amid rising political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, renewing fears about security and political violence.
