INEC Gives Update on FCT Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed that it has concluded preparations for the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections set for the 21st.

The assurance came from the FCT Administrative Secretary, Abimbola Oladunjoye, during a television interview.

She said election materials and logistics have been arranged to ensure voting goes ahead without disruption.

Sensitive items are expected to be collected from the Central Bank of Nigeria by Thursday and transported under security to the various area councils.

According to her, ad hoc personnel have completed their training, BVAS machines have been set up, and the voter register is ready for use.

These steps, she noted, are part of efforts to avoid last-minute setbacks.

She added that the commission is committed to delivering a free and credible exercise and encouraged eligible voters in the FCT to turn out peacefully and cast their ballots.
