UK Changes Visa Process For Nigerians
The United Kingdom will begin issuing electronic visas to Nigerians from February 25, 2026, as British authorities move to address a shortage of physical visa stickers.
The change was announced as part of efforts to keep visa processing running smoothly.
Under the new arrangement, approved applicants will receive a digital visa linked to their passport instead of the traditional vignette pasted inside it.
Travellers will be able to prove their status online before boarding and on arrival.
Officials say the decision follows supply challenges affecting the availability of visa stickers, which have slowed down processing in some locations.
The shift to e-visas is expected to reduce delays and modernise the system.
Nigerian applicants are advised to follow updated guidance from UK immigration authorities ahead of the rollout date to avoid travel disruptions.
