The road serves as a key link between Akure city, the airport and nearby communities.
The disruption followed reports that gunmen had carried out new abductions in broad daylight, barely a day after three people were said to have been killed on the same stretch.
The Akure Airport Road has increasingly gained a reputation for violent crime, with kidnappings and armed attacks becoming more frequent. Residents say daily life has been affected as road users now travel with anxiety, unsure of when another attack may occur.
The renewed incidents came days after gunmen attacked a residential area near the road, leaving one man shot, a woman abducted and an 11-year-old girl injured.
The injured victims were taken to hospital for treatment, while concerns continue to grow over security along the corridor.
