Fifty-two youths arrested during a protest over security concerns in Ekpoma, Edo State, have regained their freedom, the National Association of Nigerian Students has confirmed.

The release involves 38 students of Ambrose Alli University and 14 other youths from the host community who were detained after a demonstration earlier in the week.
The arrests followed a protest by students and residents demanding improved security in the town. NANS said it stepped in after reviewing the case and identifying those held.
