President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received a major boost ahead of the 2027 election as South-East governors, APC leaders, and key stakeholders declared their support for his second-term bid.
The endorsement was announced after a high-level APC meeting held in Enugu.
The decision was taken by governors of the region, party leaders, elders, and other stakeholders who met under the Izu Umunne platform. They agreed to unite behind Tinubu and work for strong voter support across the South-East.
The leaders said the move was driven by the need to align the region with the centre to secure better development, political relevance, and access to national opportunities. They warned against personal interests that could weaken collective progress.
Imo State Governor and South-East Governors Forum Chairman, Hope Uzodimma, said the region must correct its past political choices and build a stronger national presence.
He noted that backing Tinubu for a full second term would open doors for future ambitions of the South-East.
Other speakers, including Enugu Governor Peter Mbah and former Senate leaders, said the endorsement marked a new political direction for the region. They described the unity move as practical and focused on results, urging South-East leaders to stay committed ahead of 2027.
