Governor Alex Otti has urged people of Abia State to stay focused on development and ignore what he described as distractions from opposition politicians.

He said the recent gatherings and outbursts by his critics are driven by personal interests, not concern for the welfare of Abians.
The governor spoke on Saturday at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Umuoriehi, Umuahia North Local Government Area, during the dedication of a church building recently renovated with his personal funds.

He described the opposition’s activities as empty noise and said they would not distract his administration from its work.
Otti said his government would continue working to change the state’s story, stressing that his critics rarely speak about the people or their needs. He told worshippers not to waste energy responding to political attacks, adding that those behind them represent a small group with no real impact.

He clarified that public funds were not used for the church project, explaining that the building already existed and was only renovated privately to improve its appearance. He also recalled his long-standing relationship with the church, including past support for its projects.
The governor also announced that activities marking this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day had begun and would end on January 15. Church leaders thanked him for his support and prayed for continued wisdom as dignitaries and residents joined in dedicating the renovated building.
