Vice President Kashim Shettima spoke in Maiduguri as Kashim Ibrahim University graduated 2,294 students and installed the Ooni of Ife as its Chancellor during a combined convocation ceremony.

The event held on Saturday covered three academic sessions and drew government officials, traditional leaders, academics, students, and families to the university campus.

Shettima said investing in education is a clear choice to secure the country’s future, adding that learning remains the strongest path to growth, empowerment, and social progress.
He urged the graduating students to protect their character and values, noting that their actions would shape how the university is judged in the years ahead.

The Vice President also reflected on the years of insecurity in Borno State, saying the region chose learning and resilience despite disruptions caused by insurgency.
At the ceremony, Governor Babagana Zulum announced jobs and scholarships for top graduates, while the Ooni of Ife pledged support for the university’s growth and Shettima donated electric vehicles to support campus movement.
