Resident doctors across Nigeria will withdraw their services again from January 12, 2026, as the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors moves to begin an indefinite strike over unresolved welfare issues with the Federal Government.

The decision was announced by NARD president, Dr Mohammed Suleiman, following an emergency meeting of the association’s national leadership held on January 2, where members agreed that earlier commitments by the government were not met.

The strike will affect federal and state hospitals nationwide, with doctors directed to fully comply as the action is scheduled to begin at midnight on January 12 under a renewed campaign known within the union as TICS 2.0.
The association said the move became necessary after the government failed to act on promises made when doctors suspended a month-long strike in November 2025, despite giving authorities a four-week window to resolve the issues.

Union leaders insisted the strike would continue until all agreements are carried out, warning that repeated delays have left resident doctors with no choice but to halt work once again, as health authorities were yet to issue any response at the time of reporting.
