President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Munirudeen Oyebamiji for securing the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Osun State, calling it a sign of party unity ahead of the 2026 elections.
The primary election, held in Osogbo, saw delegates endorse Oyebamiji through a consensus arrangement, reflecting efforts to reconcile party members and prevent internal divisions. Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo chaired the exercise, which concluded smoothly without reported disputes.
The president acknowledged all aspirants who stepped aside, noting their role in maintaining party cohesion. Tinubu encouraged APC members in Osun to stay united and work toward reclaiming the state in the upcoming polls.
Oyebamiji, known for his loyalty to the APC, is expected to lead an inclusive campaign, bringing together former rivals and party leaders to strengthen the party’s position in the Southwest state.
The seamless primary capped months of consultations that helped prevent potential conflicts among aspirants, setting the stage for a coordinated effort in Osun.
Observers said the exercise demonstrates the APC’s strategy to present a united front, with party officials urging delegates and supporters to maintain focus as the 2026 elections approach.
