Officials said the exercise will be carried out in collaboration with relevant authorities in both countries to manage documentation, logistics and travel arrangements.

The return programme is expected to cover Nigerians who have indicated willingness to come back home.

Government sources explained that the initiative is aimed at providing structured support for the affected citizens while also easing pressure on diplomatic missions handling migration-related cases.

The exercise is expected to be carried out in phases.

Authorities have assured that proper arrangements are being made to receive returnees and support their reintegration upon arrival in Nigeria.

The process is expected to begin once final coordination is completed with South African officials.
