The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released new instructions for candidates preparing for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The update, shared on the board’s official X page on Sunday, is meant to guide students ahead of the registration window.

The board explained that candidates must confirm their personal details—such as NIN, email and A-Level records—before generating a profile code. To begin the process, students are required to send their 11-digit NIN to either 55019 or 66019. Once the profile code is issued, the system locks the biodata pulled from NIMC, meaning it cannot be altered.

JAMB stated that candidates should visit an approved CBT centre or a JAMB office to complete their registration. E-PINs should be bought only from recognised banks, trusted online platforms or verified vendors at the centres. Students were urged to review their registration template carefully and ensure every detail is correct before hitting the final submission button.
The board advised candidates to sort out any personal data corrections with NIMC early, especially details involving names, dates of birth, gender or state of origin. Each candidate must also use a unique phone number and email address that works properly. Anyone facing biometric problems is expected to report to the nearest JAMB office, as no centre is allowed to force registration. Centres are required to use dual screens so candidates can confirm their photos and fingerprints during the process.
JAMB also listed common problems faced during profile code generation. Wrong message formats often cause the 55019 or 66019 error. Some students may also get a notice that their phone number is already linked to another profile, which means the SIM must be retrieved or a new line used. If the system cannot verify a NIN, candidates are advised to wait and try again.
The board announced that the 2026 UTME forms will be available from Friday, January 31, 2026, until Saturday, March 8, 2026, giving candidates several weeks to complete their registration.
