Adeleke Set To Reveal 2026 Re-election Platform

Former Osun State Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola says the political platform Governor Ademola Adeleke will use for his 2026 re-election bid will be announced once the governor returns from his current trip abroad.

His comments follow growing speculation about the parties Adeleke is considering ahead of the poll.

Oyinlola said Accord remains a fair option but noted that his own decision to move with the governor will depend entirely on the party chosen. He made it clear that he will not follow Adeleke to any platform that clashes with his personal convictions, recalling that he earlier rejected pressure to join the APC when the governor was said to be weighing that option.

He explained that the choice of party will be finalised this week, adding that Osun residents will be informed once a decision is reached. The timeline is becoming tight as the electoral body has set December 15, 2025, as the deadline for parties to submit their candidates for the August 8, 2026 governorship election.

Oyinlola warned that the unresolved issues within the PDP at the national level could put Adeleke’s nomination at risk, making alternative platforms a real consideration. Speaking in Yoruba during the interview, he said he would not return to the APC because of past experiences, insisting the party does not keep promises. He described APGA as a risky choice and said Accord was more familiar to him, given his knowledge of its roots.

He said he will only follow Adeleke if the chosen platform aligns with his beliefs, stressing that he would step aside if the decision goes against his principles. He also noted that the ADC, which he helped form, still has issues despite attracting major political figures.

Oyinlola praised Adeleke’s performance, saying the administration’s impact is visible across the state, even though not everyone will be satisfied. He added that the committee he leads has resolved disputes in four of six troubled PDP state chapters.

He expressed concern about national affairs, pointing to economic hardship and rising insecurity. He said the situation has become so troubling that the country is now the subject of international mockery and argued that in other nations, such developments would force a president to step down.
