Makinde Cautions Against Rigging In 2027 Oyo Election

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has warned politicians against any attempt to tamper with the 2027 governorship election, saying those planning to manipulate the process will face stiff resistance from the people.

A video circulating on Monday captured the governor addressing political actors who he said are planning to sway the coming election through underhand tactics. He noted that voters in Oyo State have become more aware and will not tolerate actions that threaten their choice at the polls.

Makinde explained that he is already preparing for his exit from office and that the outcome of the next governorship race will be decided by the people, not by attacks or political games targeted at him. He said those expecting to benefit from such tactics are miscalculating because residents now understand their power.

He warned anyone thinking of rigging to rethink their plans, adding that the next set of leaders and the electorate will be the ones making the final call. According to him, any attempt to force an outcome in 2027 will be firmly challenged.

The governor’s remarks follow earlier statements in which he insisted that only the people of Oyo State will determine his successor, not political godfathers or individuals positioning themselves as favourites.
