The Academic Staff Union of Universities will hold a National Executive Council meeting on Wednesday to decide its next move after the Federal Government’s renegotiation team wrapped up its discussions with the union.

The government reconvened talks with ASUU on Monday as part of a last attempt to prevent a new strike. The meeting, which resumed yesterday, is expected to end today, according to a senior NEC member who explained that the union will make its decision once the committee submits its final report.

ASUU’s one-month ultimatum to the government expired on Saturday, raising tension across public universities. The union has repeatedly warned that it may embark on a full strike if issues raised over the years remain unresolved.
