The decision was reached on Saturday at the Lekan Salami Stadium, where delegates gathered to choose the party’s new national leadership.

The ratification followed a motion moved by Tony Abineri of the Edo State chapter and supported by Edward Marshal. Party leaders said the move aligned with the provisions of Section 32 of the PDP Constitution, which guides the appointment and confirmation of national officers.

The convention drew over three thousand delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Governors Seyi Makinde and Umaru Fintiri led the delegation, while other top figures such as Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal and the Deputy Governor of Osun State were also present.
Chieftains, lawmakers and party executives filled the stadium as the leadership was presented with party and national flags, marking the formal start of a new chapter for the PDP.
Damagum’s confirmation signals a continuation of the current leadership structure as the party prepares for its next political steps.
