The South-South Guardian Forum (SSGF) made the call in a statement released at the weekend, urging Akpabio to act without delay. According to the group’s spokesperson, Andrew Odigwe, the prolonged delay in confirming Ramat’s appointment has become suspicious and unjustifiable.

Odigwe said the Senate President should uphold due process by allowing Ramat to assume office, noting that his leadership could bring stability and reform to Nigeria’s electricity sector. He described the delay as unconstitutional and harmful to the country’s economic growth.

The group argued that Ramat’s experience in power regulation made him well-suited for the job and that his leadership could help address long-standing challenges in electricity generation and distribution. They urged Akpabio to put national interest first and ensure Ramat’s immediate confirmation.

According to the forum, Ramat’s appointment had already been screened and approved by the Senate Committee on Power, and no valid reason exists for holding it back. They called on Nigerians to support the demand for his inauguration, insisting that the power sector needs competent leadership to move forward.
