The company explained that a check on the registration details of the truck, with plate number JJJ 365 XB, revealed that it is owned and operated by an independent logistics firm unconnected to Dangote. It further clarified that the truck was carrying crushed stones in old sacks that bore different brand labels, not Dangote products.

According to the statement, Dangote Industries maintains a strict fleet management system, with all its trucks carrying clear company markings and fleet numbers for easy identification. The firm also noted that every Dangote vehicle is monitored through a tracking system and driven by trained personnel under strict safety regulations.

The company appealed to the public and media outlets to confirm information before associating any vehicle with the Dangote brand. It expressed condolences to the victims and their families, reaffirming its commitment to safety, compliance, and responsible business conduct.

The Wednesday crash in Akungba-Akoko claimed about ten lives after the truck reportedly suffered brake failure, lost control, and rammed into roadside shops, leaving the community in mourning.
