Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, Uche Nnaji, is facing mounting pressure to resign following allegations of certificate forgery.

The Global Gender Safety and Moral Development (GGSMD), in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Godwin Erheriene, urged the minister to step aside and allow relevant security and regulatory agencies to conduct a full investigation into the claims.

Erheriene drew attention to the 2018 case of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, who resigned after controversy over her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate. He said Nnaji should follow a similar path to protect the credibility of government institutions and prevent further embarrassment to the country.

The group demanded that Nnaji immediately resign, present himself for investigation, and cooperate fully with authorities to verify the authenticity of his credentials. It criticised the minister’s decision to seek legal action instead of submitting to verification, describing it as a waste of public funds and judicial time.
GGSMD also warned that if the minister fails to comply, the organisation will hold peaceful protests at the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Technology to demand accountability.
The group called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure transparency and fairness in handling the issue, stating that no member of the administration should be above scrutiny if the government is committed to fighting corruption and protecting the integrity of public office.
