A political group in Southern Kaduna, the Southern Kaduna Renaissance Front (SKRF), has been thrown into division ahead of the 2027 general elections over whether to back the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

At its “2025 Young Persons Political Conference” held on Wednesday, members of the group took conflicting positions. While some endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, others called for political parties to field governorship candidates from Southern Kaduna to challenge Governor Uba Sani in 2027.

In a communiqué signed by convener Sabastine Bahori Luka and secretary Pastor Jerome Waziri, the group noted that a majority supported forging a “strategic alliance with the centre” to secure appointments and development projects for the region.
However, others argued for “strategic opposition” to position Southern Kaduna as a political bride open to all parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
