Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency in Kano, has raised alarm over what he described as persistent, politically motivated attacks on members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his constituency.

In a statement personally signed and released to journalists in Kano, Doguwa, who chairs the House Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), said the latest incident occurred on August 28, when suspected political thugs invaded Tasarrufi General Enterprise, a factory in Tudun Wada.

He alleged that workers were injured during the attack while properties were destroyed, creating fear among residents.

“This is not an isolated case but part of a larger pattern of intimidation against APC members in Doguwa/Tudun Wada,” Doguwa said, adding that the local government APC chairman, Alhaji Suyudi Umar, was also targeted.

Describing the attacks as “barbaric and unacceptable,” the lawmaker urged security agencies to intervene, stressing that democracy can only thrive if citizens are free to associate with any political party without fear of violence.
He also called on President Bola Tinubu and the APC national leadership to address the situation, while appealing to his constituents to remain calm and law-abiding pending the outcome of investigations.
Meanwhile, Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed that a full investigation has been launched. He said community leaders, ALGON officials, and eyewitnesses have been invited to provide statements, assuring that justice will be done.
The Human Rights Network Nigeria (HRN-Nigeria) had earlier filed a petition on September 4, demanding a thorough probe into the violence.
