Rashidi Ladoja, former governor of Oyo State, will be installed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on September 26. The ceremony will take place at Mapo Hall, Oja-Oba, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The coronation date was set after Governor Seyi Makinde approved Ladoja’s nomination for the throne. The approval followed a meeting between the state government’s delegation, the Olubadan-designate, and members of the Olubadan advisory council on Wednesday.

Ladoja’s nomination came on August 4 after the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on July 7. His elevation to the throne marks the continuation of the traditional succession process of the Ibadan royal system.
